I bought the shape cutter with coupon and LOVE it! I was able to get 19 strips from the fabric I had in my stash. Using these calculations I will be able to make the quilt with 63 charms (I'm using some I bought at Big Lots for this 1st try) and will have 7 rows across and 9 down! Thanks everyone for your help. Then divide by about 40 for the number of strips to cut. Remember to round up. Cutting the 2.5 inch strips isn't so bad, I got into a sort of rhythm and just cut, cut, cut. Any extra strips I cut I used for the binding.

Missouri Star Quilt Company, I love the prices as well as the daily deal.

I have made 2 falling charms quilts and LOVE making them. I bought the June Tailor Shape Cutter and LOVE it. Makes cutting SO easy and it's so exciting to get straight cuts.

The first quilt I made I used cheap "sheeting" fabric and Big Lots charm pack to try to out the pattern. Came out okay but was disappointed in sheeting fabric. I will keep that one for myself and I'm hoping the quilting will give it more stability.

So I made the pattern again using nice lavender Kona from Hobby Lobby and the leftover charms that I bought from Big Lots. I added a few pieces from my stash that I cut to charm size and ended up making HUGE queen size quilt....love it. It's 88 charms with 8 rows across and 11 down.

I figured out that I can get 8 charms on one strip for 5" side and 6 charms for 7" side. I am very frugal and put them really close together and it was so great to have just little pieces of scraps when I cut them apart.

I have to figure out how to post a picture so will be trying to figure that out next. I used purple for the background on both quilts...really nice. Off to figure out posting picture!

jellyrollfabric.com is an excellent site to get jelly rolls. They are often on sale for $11 or $12. Liz Katsuro has lots of free patterns to make with jelly rolls also.

jellyrollfabric.com is not a quilting site. It's just a site where the owner is trying to get money for referrals. You can accomplish the same thing by using your favorite search engine and searching for "jelly roll fabric sale"
