I think I'm possibly the only person here who fell in love with The Pogues Fairytale of New York , it smacks of passion and broken dreams ,it makes me gulp every time i both hear it and see the video , funny how a song can do that to you

Australian Christmas Carols because it is Summer here during Christmas, not cold and snowy. There are a number of Aussie Carols on Youtube but no good recording of my very favourite: The Carol of the Birds-Orana to Christmas Day. It is the Australian Carol of the birds which is entirely different to the traditional European one.

I really like "Go Tell It On The Mountain" by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. It's lively, yet still manages to be reverent. "Mary Did You Know" by Mark Lowry, who is also the songwriter. When he sings that song, you BELIEVE him. Chills every time! I also like "Do You Hear What I Hear?", and I have a soft spot for "All I Want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey.

"Silent Night" because I play guitar and it was written for the guitar. And my favorite silly Christmas song is "The Christmas Can'Can" by Straight No Chaser (Google it, it's a hoot!)

Interestingly enough, "Joy to the World" wasn't written as a Christmas song, but has become one of the most popular
