I use the stop/start for everything. Tried using the foot pedal not long ago and found I couldn't do it. I kept reaching for the button.

I have a Elna 740 and it has a speed regulator too. It also has the stop start button but if the foot controller is hooked up the stop start button don't work. How are you using them together, never heard of this. I alos have a Viking Diamond, have never tried this on it, guess I will have to experiment.

I have a Janome MC 9000 which has that feature and I never thought of using it for that! Thank you for the idea. I didn't realize you could tap the foot pedal to stop it, so I'll have to try. Janome makes BabyLock, so it's probably the same.

I figured out by accident to touch the foot petal while using the start/stop button. I just happened to hit the foot petal by accident while FMQ and my machine stopped! IMO the start/stop is the way to go when FMQ, especially if you can slow down the speed of the machine.

I think my Janome 7700 is like that, too. I will have to double check. I've used the start/stop once or twice when I first got the machine and I liked it but I feel like I lose control when I have to move my hand to hit the stop.

I have a Brothers NX 2000 and the foot pedal must be disconnected to use the start/stop button. However, I put a 3M sticky thing (small narrow strips) on both sides of my foot pedal and then a piece of sticky thing on a 1/8" piece of dowel and stuck the dowel pieces on the sides of my foot pedal and so now I have a speed control. I did this because I found that my FMQ problems stemmed from my foot pressure being uneven rather than my hands. It seems to be working for me. Just thought I would share this with you.
