Default Singer’s Birth of a Sewing Machine Film

The 1934 silent B/W film entitled Birth of a Sewing Machine is on the Scottish Screen Archive website at:
    http://ssa.nls.uk/

    The film is at: http://ssa.nls.uk/film/1592

The 70-minute film is described by them as “The manufacturing processes involved in making a Singer sewing machine at Clydebank, Glasgow, from its raw form of iron to the finished product packed and ready for export.”

Wow - thanks CD for this link - absolutely fascinating. A lot of back breaking work involved - those folks really knew what a hard days work was. It would be interesting to see a film on the current manufacturing process. Sure makes me appreciate, all the more, my beautiful old machine.

    All of the above!
Of course it'd be interesting to sit and watch it with an OSHA inspector :-)

That was literally breathtaking. I watched the whole thing beginning to end.

I ordered this from them a year ago when only a few minutes of it were online. I have watched it once, and will probably watch it again. I have it ripped (for personal use) to my media server at home so I can watch it from a computer or a TV whenever I want. I will see if I can get any tips from it when I do the decals on the FW I'm painting this winter.

I'd like to know what type of decal material they used.
It looks like they tape the papers to the machine then rub them with hot water and they transfer.
