If ever you have a problem with scorching, and it's not burned... this is going to sound crazy but it does work...
Fill a bowl/basin with tepid water, then add several denture tablets. Put the affected area of your project in the water with the denture tabs. Let is sit over nite. In the morning chances are your scorched area will be gone. I used this quite a few times in heirloom sewing and it really does work!
