OH wow every thing is so beautiful. I am still buried under getting a chicken quilt finished before I leave for Australia next week. I am taking it with me for a gift for my daughter's mum in law. When I get it finished, I will start on my star.

Have Alabama in the Red, white and blue theme done: Of course, I got the camera unstraight; its not the block, just the operator of the camera! LOL.

I love all the lovely blocks posted.

QuiltingNinaSue, the red, white, blue theme is going to be terrific. Love your block. Thanks everyone for the kudos on my block, as y'all can tell, I'm a brights gal. Just spent the morning cutting blocks for the next 6 weeks. I love having the book and the cd. I have a few sew days with friends coming up and always have a hard time finding a project in just the right stage to work on for a few hours. I put all the cuts into ziplocs, printed the sheets, so I can just grab and go. Something I thought of that others might want to do too, since we are posting our blocks, each block is a single photo. I plan on inserting them on a page in word so I can see the arrangement as I go. Not certain if I am going to keep them in order. Time will tell. Have a great day y'all stay warm.

Jeanie, I went back and looked at the first thread. here are some post numbers for you ladies to look at. # 2475, #2501, # 2551, and # 2576. I'm not for sure whether I got the the white one's number. I looks like they used 12" blocks and got 49 of them in their quilt. the white one by white pine? I think used 52. these were set with very thin sashings. I think I might re think and make mine 12" blocks. so that means, i'll have to enter 6" into the software. I think. still thinking.

Default Alabama star

Here's my Mardi Gras-themed Alabama star! My center is wonky but I'm happy with it as a first block. I m considering appliqueing a Mardi Gras mask over it. The center star is light green and corner squares are light yellow. Those colors don't show up well with my camera. I will not be QAYG until I get a more proficient with the paper piecing. I'm learning tons thanks to you all. Thank you for the inspiration!

You can give your kids geography research as you work through the States! Stay warm!
