I think this is a good idea, but I would glue the small pieces to my fingertips. Or at least to the fingertips of the gloves. I have the quilting gloves for FMQ, but sometimes that is not enough.

All you would need would be about 1 square inch on a few fingers. Regular glue should hold them on and you wouldn't sew over them. (Well, maybe sometimes.)

For templates made of plastic or similar materials I spray a small spot of basting spray on the side that will lay on the fabric take my finger and spread it around just a very small amount I love the way it works. For my rulers the small sandpaper dots work fine but I do keep a small 5lb weight in my quilting room to place on the far side of a ruler if I need extra support during cutting.

Flip your pedal over and see what sort of "feet" it has. Perhaps the liner needs different positioning or something?

Another use for the shelf liner is in the bathtub to keep from slipping and falling. I always take a piece in my suitcase when traveling to use and it dries over night ready to pack in the morning. Also good for the seat in the shower to keep from sliding around. Seniors need all the safety tips we can get. Ruth
