My Mom used to tie the quilts with yarn. I tie with embroidery thread. I have a lot of embroidery thread so that's what I use. I enjoy both. My grandchildren like both. You use what you have. Have had no problems with either. BrendaK

I have tied several queen size t-shirt quilts. It works very well for me. I have started quilting (stitch in the ditch) my lap quilts, but I find tying to be easier and less stressful. Your king size quilt is very pretty!

Beautiful quilt, especially with George's stamp of approval throughout the process. Tying or machine quilting, I think is a personal preference, after all it's your quilt. I once attended a machine quilting class by a local quilter/quilt shop owner, who was very surprised that no tied quilts were allowed in our annual quilt show. She then pointed out that a quilt that was shown on the cover of a major quilt magazine was tied.

I like tied quilts too. I'm wondering if wool yarn would work? Like would it make the ties stronger after it's washed and the yarn is 'felted'?

The quillt is beautiful and I love that you tied it! It takes me right back to my childhood and sleeping at my Grandparents house. The quilt looks so comfortable and I guess that George would agree! Thank you for sharing.

Love your scrappy. Tying it just made it more comfortable. Yes it is hard on the hands and back, but it is worth it.
