I have mixed emotions about the metal guide. Love it for doing just quarter in seams, but it doesn't work for doing some sewing. I tried it for an item where I needed to keep adding fabric (like paper piecing or sew and flip) and got frustrated because the extra fabric doesn't go under the metal bar. Just a thought.

My machine came with a 1/4" guide...many years later came out with a 1/4" foot with a guide...so I got one of those too. Don't always remember to use it, but I do like when I do use it...so easy to get perfect seam allowances.

This is why we are saying that you may still have to adjust your needle position to the left or the right to get the most accruate seam allowance or the one you need for that project. Once you know what the settings are you can adjust them machine when you use the foot.

I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever used one? If so, did you like it?

Thanks!

first thing I did was snap that guide off LOL

I love mine...however, I didn't at first. It took comments on here about giving it a little time and some practice. Earlier comments about getting one specifically for your machine, made by the manufacturer, is really important. Have fun!

I have both for my Bernina, one with and one without the guide. Personally, I did not like the one with the guide but I'm sure that it is a personal preference. I found that the fabric was in the way, especially if you want to make an adjustment. Love the 1/4" foot without the guide though, couldn't image piecing without it.
