What do I use to remove scotch tape and sticky from the black finish??

You all are truly amazing. The oil worked great. It was harder to get the old sticky residue off than to remove the tape and that sticky stuff but it's cleaned off now..... and no damage to the black finish or decals. Thank you everyone.

I would not peel the tape or use goo-gone or anything of the sort. I would only use oil and a fingernail and patience. Peeling it could well lift the shellac or decals.
Oil will do the trick; just be patient, let it seep under there and do its thing.

Peanut Butter! Used it on lots of my new appliances when I built my new home. Worked. Put a "healthy" layer on and leave alone. I left overnight and wiped with clean cloth in morning. If not all came off I did it again. Besides I always have peanut butter around and it smells good.

I'd still be careful and test first. Anything that can "breakdown glue" may breakdown decals and clear coating as well
