This is my first Feb finish. It belongs to my sister who sent it to me last year to quilt or her. She says she is not a quilter, she is a topper! So I quilt for her. I rented time on a LQS long-arm for this one because I know she spent a lot of time on it.

MsGiggle: You and your sister make a great team. Love the colors, love the design and love the quilting. Congrats on the finish!

Very cool, and a great idea to rent space on a Longarm. I never would've thought about that.

I was going to wait until the end of the month to post, but since my sewing room has been dismantled for a remodel, this may be all I accomplish this month! This is a baby quilt. A friend send me a copy of the nursery. I noticed a zig-zag print on the changing table and saw a pop of bright yellow in a picture frame. That was my jumping off point. If I never do another one of these quilts, it will be too soon!A friend brought me the printed fabric and asked if I would make a baby quilt. I asked who was having a baby. "If any of my kids ever decides to get married and have kids, I want to be ready!" The pattern is Eden from Fons & Porter's Kids Quilts, Summer 2009. This is the minky backing of the baby quilt. I had such fun FMQing! Oh, by the way, the fabrics I picked out to go with the fabric that she brought me were chosen while I was sleepwalking one night! Seriously! Even in my sleep I just do what I enjoy, apparently. Why couldn't I just do housework while I sleep?!?! Needless to say, I'm looking into what is causing the sleepwalking...

Michelle: So much accomplished! Love the chevron. I could really see it following the child for many years. Congrats on the finishes.

Thanks for your kind words everyone. You all keep me going.

Missgigglewings, that is such an adorable quilt. I did a kimono quilt last year, too, so you know I LOVE it. I agree.... you and your sister make a good team.

And Michelle, your baby quilts will be cherished and loved for years. They are wonderful. I'm a little jealous.... never tried to back a quilt in minky cause I was scared it would move all over the place. What did you do to keep it smooth and flat? I guess I could try it. I do love Minky.... so soft.

Jean - one woman I make baby blankets for ALWAYS wants Minky on the back of the quilts. Every time I use it I think I hate working with it, but since I use Elmer's glue to sandwich I haven't had ANY problems. It's harder to give/sell those quilts, because I just want to snuggle up in them!!

I'm still working on my Orca Bay quilt. I am not fast at this project that needs completion but I'm determined to finish. I keep thinking of something else I want to work on. I love starting and finishing. It's the middle that gets rather boring for me. Maybe that's why there's so many ufo's in the works. They are very patient though.
