I would "audition" some scraps of the colors you have used in the very pretty top. What picks up the best and that you like the best would be my pick. All good ideas above; this is just how I do it.

Pretty quilt. I think that the border fabric might be to busy for the back. Great job.

I'd use the border fabric. Your quilt is just beautiful!

Your quilt is beautiful, and I might be tempted to use the border fabric or one of the purples for a backing.

But if that's not possible, I'd go with any of the darker blue'ish or purple'ish fabrics. If they're not available, you could use a small scale print in either of those colors (or predominantly black) on the back. Your choice of a binding fabric might be more important than your choice of a backing. But then I'm someone who forgets to look at the back of a quilt.

Also dealing with the Minnesota snow … but also taking time to appreciate its beauty!
I also like these choices.

Sorry about your snow - I just noticed that my azaleas are starting to bloom and the grass is greening up. Wish I could share some of our "warmth" with you all!

[QUOTE=sandrab64;6588683]Hello from Blizzard-y Minnesota! Spent the last 2 days sewing because we are socked in here at the farm with over 10 inches of heavy wet snow and major wind and drifts. Not pleasant at all. At least we didn't lose power!

I finished my "Lovely" top and am now stuck on what backing color to order. I'm going to scallop the outer border and bind with black. I plan on FMQ lots of feathers and swirls on my DSM. I love all the colors in this quilt but which one should I pick? I can order any of the fabrics shown in the top. I keep gravitating towards the solid blue or green that has the little squares in it but wonder if it's too 'solid' which can sometimes show mistakes in FMQ more than a busier fabric. Then again I think having little (or big) flowers all over the back would be too much.

Would welcome your thoughts as to color of backing, thread color to use and FMQ suggestions!![/QUOTE

What
"Lovely" quilt :0) I too have all these fabrics. I have sent you a Private message, be sure and check your inbox.

There are some fabrics that are just so hard to cut into.
I finally have decided what pattern I will be using to make a quilt from this line. There are just some fabrics

What about the black swirl fabric, I made a quilt out of Lovely, and used the large pansies with white background on the back, it I don't like the look too much, The pansies with the black background would have looked better. Also did you know you can get the fabric you want at petermichaelfabrics.com for $5.95 a yard (310)314-8470 S&H may be a bit higher but this price is $4 to $5 less per yard.

Your quilt is beautiful.
