Need help picking out a backing color!

I would "audition" some scraps of the colors you have used in the very pretty top. What picks up the best and that you like the best would be my pick. All good ideas above; this is just how I do it.

Sorry about your snow - I just noticed that my azaleas are starting to bloom and the grass is greening up. Wish I could share some of our "warmth" with you all!

I finished my "Lovely" top and am now stuck on what backing color to order. I'm going to scallop the outer border and bind with black. I plan on FMQ lots of feathers and swirls on my DSM. I keep gravitating towards the solid blue or green that has the little squares in it but wonder if it's too 'solid' which can sometimes show mistakes in FMQ more than a busier fabric. Then again I think having little (or big) flowers all over the back would be too much.
Would welcome your thoughts as to color of backing, thread color to use and FMQ suggestions!
