Toot, Toot..... Great finish, sewBelle. What wonderful fabric.... love butterflies. You did a fantastic job. Did you say you're new at this??? It looks like an old pro's work.

LOL! Yes, definitely new at this! I've been sewing since the early 70s but just finished up my beginning quilting class. Before I re-worked this butterfly, the points were sewn overlapping and didn't point at all, and my top and bottom borders were different sizes. I didn't realize you squared, eased to fit, and measure to make a correct border - I just cut the strip the size the pattern called for, and when it didn't fit, just squished it in there!
There is still one block (visible in the close-up photo - center butterfly) that I just couldn't get to line up, no matter what I did. The square is just uneven. But it's not too bad I don't think!

Well, if you aren't an old pro at this point, no one would ever know it. And, the more you learn, the better you'll get.... watch out everyone, SewBelle is gonna knock your socks off with her masterpieces in the future.
And, don't look at my first quilts...... I can point out every mistake even though other people don't seem to know where they are.

I think you did great, both in piecing and choice of colors. Congrats. Please don't be so hard on yourself. When I see some of my projects I cringe. Would like to see them disappear but the recipients won't give them up. Yours is really very good.

Here are 2 more finishes. The baby quilt has the strips and is finished. The other one is a top that will be finished by my church group for charity.

I just love looking and reading about everyone's UFOs. It give me incentive to continue to work on my projects. My projects this month. 1. Quilt strip quilt
2. Quilt motorcycle quilt
3. Organize sewing room, I'm 1/3 of the way there.
4. Make and quilt tee shirt quilt
Pretty much in that order. Back to happy quilting. Bye for now.

Thanks for the compliments. It does feel good to have them done and know where I am donating them.
Wildyard: I'm glad you want to use it for inspiration. I got the squares/ rectangle idea from this board.. That person used only those blocks for a rail fence type of quilt. I didn't have enough 4 inch squares to make a big top.
When I looked at the picture last night, I saw that I faced a few square/rectangle blocks the wrong direction(sash on the wrong side in row). Oh, well. I'm still happy with the results.
