there is an absolutely beautiful red and white quilt in the newest connecting threads catalog. I want to make it myself it is so stunning. You can purchase the pattern or a queen size kit. Check it out on line. Its called the Paris Flea Market quilt

What about Ohio stars, using the quick piecing method? See quilting.about.com. Then quilt patterns. Others sites show a fancier center. You could add any border you wanted. Let us know what you choose.

A good 2 colr quilt pattern is called "Four Fun" by Mountian Peak Creations. Its all strip pieceing and four patches. It make a great beginner quilt.

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions– I am going to research each one and see what fits her personality the best. Everyone on this board is so helpful and wonderful. You should know that my zealous for quilting comes from this board what you find on this board is everyone willing to help and the best part no judgment. Also thank you for the reminder of washing the fabric (red) several times to make sure it doesn’t bleed. So from my heart Thank you all.

Hunter's Star, and I'd get the piecing templates by Deb Tucker.

Good Morning it’s me again - I just wanted to say that I went through each and every suggestion given to me by you all. Then I did a search for Jacob’s ladder and I noticed that YouTube had a tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Co. by Jenny herself and guess what the colors were that’s correct RED & WHITE – it was beautiful and perfect. So I just wanted to take the time to say Thank you to each and everyone one of you. You all are amazing.
