2014 UFO Therapy Thread - Sister Thread to 2014 UFO Challenge of the Month

Good morning everyone, I am finally catching up after my week long quilting expedition (or at least it feels like a week).
I had a class Wednesday evening at the local quilt shop which involved a quilt that I was able to use entirely out of my stash (YAY!). Then Thursday to Sunday we had a quilt retreat at the shop, 4 days of sewing, eating, and friendship till late into the night. Followed by Monday night the 2nd and final night of my quilt class (from the Wednesday before).
Last night I slept LOL.
But I wanted to share that during the quilt retreat I was able to finish from my UFOs a long outstanding quilt called Rolling Waves. When I checked the date on it, it was from a quilt class in September 2010. Considering I've only been quilting from 2009 that is one of my oldest UFOs. It involved many tiny, tiny 9 patches which fortunately I had already mastered my 1/4 inch seam by that time so I didn't have any issues picking it up again this weekend. That sucker took me 3 days to finish!!!
I'll try and get a picture when I can, but I was just excited that I got another UFO done, I'm really getting through them this year.

Loved watching you take your UFO to a flimsy, Krista. Thanks for sharing.

I thought for sure I would have several pages to catch up here, but we must all be busy or under the weather (literally). I have not been working on any ufos yet. I keep needing to do class samples. Maybe this weekend I can get some quilted

This has been a crazy month for me. I was working on a DDIL throw and had fabric selection issues, which a quick trip to the fabric store and $12 fixed. But then we were away for a while, recovering from the trip and then the grands came for 4 days (2 and 5 yrs). And have been recovering since! Have been afraid of losing the momentum that I had going last month with all these distractions. Was able to finish a topper started a few years ago yesterday afternoon and today. Will continue to work on my throw and finish it for sure this month. (It was due this past Christmas ) Guess I'm ready for a new month and some more progress! How are you all doing?

Krista: That quilt is just beautiful. It's very mesmerizing, I just want to keep staring at it.

Haven't finished even one UFO this year. Really got hung up on various quilt alongs, having a great time but still determined to finish some of my oldies but goodies before the year is out.

I'm working hard on doing the comfort quilts so I can get back to my ufo's. Also, right now I'm trying to save the old Happy Sombrero's quilt for my son. It really is in tatters, so I'm just using umm... the stuff you iron.. oh, stabilizer between the torn layers and then I'm zigzagging all the seams back together. It might get him a few more years of use out of it.
He is leaving us to move back to Seattle next week so it's priority to finish this weekend.
Both comfort quilt tops are done, one is layered and pinned. Progress is being made!
I talked to my sister in CA and she informed me that the blocks I made last time I was there, as an example for her to work from, are still as they were, lol, so when I visit this month, there will be a UFO waiting for me there too.

Wildyard- I think it was John Lennon who said something like" Life is what happens while we're making other plans." Loved ones getting ready to leave and need attention and care or get sick and need attention and care and sometimes we get to go somewhere! Our plans for our UFOs will still be there while those projects wait patiently. Now, if I can only remember where I put the list! Lol!!!
