I added an additional border... do I need to make my outer border rectangles bigger? (the outer ones that form the points)

sdeaaz -- yes, it needs to be long enough to sew onto a side. Add the amount you added, to the length of the rectangles you will cut.

RJ, both quilts are great! OKsewnsew, love your florals and that border does go so well. I am going to start collecting flower fabric and do this one again sometime. Judy, I love this pattern because it can be used so many ways.

Sdeaaz, I have a scallop ruler, (Quilt in a Day by Eleanor Burns), but Fons & Porter has a tutorial on it, too... You can also use a plate, depending on big you want to make the scallop. You can either keep the points where scallops meet, or make them a soft curve (easier to put binding on).. It took me some time to figure out the instructions, but once it soaked in, then it was easy, of course..lol

Ok, somehow if screwed up on this. I had them all put together ready for the small border around. But when i put it upon my board........HELP it was wonky all over the place. I was so upset and was trying to figure out what on earth I had done wrong to have it do that. So I was just going to put it in the never gonna finish pile, but I decided to slash it up instead. So I straightened it out and then slashed and put back together. Put the border on and then the outside border and it turned out great. I am so happy that I could save it as I wanted it for the Concerts in the park this summer. Something to sit on or to wrap around my shoulders when it gets cold.

Love the pattern, love Judy, love the tutorial.

Hate my finished piece. Yes I have some rumples that will be resolved. But for some reason the colors just seem, well, not balanced. Its too dark in the middle, or is it just me? All the prints go well with primary fabric, but stuff seems to be.... Heck i dont know. Ideas?

and since it will be on a table, I have cut a piece of the thermal batting used in pot holders to help protect the table. Also wll the scraps were made into coordinating scrappy potholders.

Nice border ideas, I haven't done my border yet either. I keep popping from one UFO to the next to get a bit done on things. Love the Mystery Trains!!
