The blue is very pretty, but the green is so much more dramatic. I would go with the green.

I'm going thru the software now, and looking at the tips for making the first 3 blocks on our project schedule. And have a REALLY dumb question. Is foundation piecing the same thing as paper piecing?

I have no idea how to PP... is there a PP'ing for Dummies tutorial around here or on the web that you all know of?

Thank you!

yes, foundation piecing is paper piecing.

here's a tute on the forum regarding PP - i would suggest you learn to PP the jane blocks will be much easier to work with if you know how.

if the tute doesn't help you much you can buy a dvd which will have more visual aids.

I was always taught that foundation piecing is only like paper piecing in that the technique is the same, but in foundation piecing you don't remove the fabric like you would in paper piecing. Paper piecing uses paper and foundation piecing uses a fabric foundation that you sew upon.

she's speaking specifically about the dear jane software and when you go to print the patterns it doesn't have an option called "paper piecing" in the software its "foundation"

Awesome... I love the absolutel step-by-step process amma uses in that tutorial. Parts still seem confusing, but I hope it won't when I actually have everything in front of me and I'm doing it. :D

Thank you, Klue, for linking me to that!

I ordered my unbleached muslin last night, so now all that's left is for me to buy the actual civil war fabs!!!
