ACK, I too am a beginner & haven't yet attempted anything with triangles and after reading all this I am now totally confused & will do my best (at least for awhile) to avoid triangles. I'm tearing my hair out now just trying to get a nice 1/4" marked on a sewing machine I drug out a while ago, don't know why this one is giving me such fits but it is. I WILL NOT let it win! Welcome to the board hun, I have learned a lot here almost as much as videos. These are a great bunch of Ladies & Gentlemen that know their quilting.

GeriB, I found all the triangles alreeady cut in a thrift store. Just working to find a way to use them. Fun to play, plenty to play with! I have discovered the "secret" is to sew them adding one triangle at a time. Not so speedy as when I thought I'd chain piece triangle pairs then piece the pairs, etc. But...it works.
The row on the left is the one with the overlap. Compare to the other row, where each seam was stitched with the edges lined up. The triangle bases are now lined up beyond the points of the adjacent triangles by a scant 1/4". Yay! This will work, just takes more time!
