i think that the hand appliqued part would look nice if you quilted all around the appliques, but left them plain, that way they would really pop.

You should stitch around all of the appliques with a straight stitch. This will be right next to the appliques, on the background fabric. That will help the appliques to pop forward. Since this quilt looks like you'll be using it, I'd do some different designs in the remaining blocks, but nothing too dense or the quilt might become stiff. Perhaps keep your scale around 1.5"- 2", so keep your quilting lines that far apart. This is pretty remarkable for your first quilt. Check out Leah Day's website - Free Motion Project.com. If you are going to quilt it yourself, I would start with stitch in the ditch. I would then free motion quilt around the appliqués. At that point, I would think about how much more I wanted to do. If you send your quilt out to a long armer, ask them for suggestions that would avoid the appliqué. Check out some of the free motion classes on Craftsy. They are terrific. Also, Leah Day has great videos on YouTube. Good luck!

Congratulations on a job well done! Wow, a first quilt, can't wait to see what comes next. Don't have any suggestions either on how to quilt it but like PeniF said keep it simple and let the amazing work you've done shine through. If you have a quilt shop near you that you frequent maybe they might suggest something.
