When I was packing up my fabrics I lined the box with a plastic bag just to be safe. My entire sewing room was going into the moving company's warehouse for storage for an unknown amount of time. Ended up being over 4 years by the time I sold the house, moved, found another house, remodeled it and then finally moved in. As I lived in Florida at that time and we have lots of bugs, I wanted to be sure the bugs didn't get inside my boxes during that time. Plus I realized the moving company didn't keep their word in putting my belongings in an A/C unit, though that's what I paid for. Most of my plastic totes that contained fabrics were damaged by the time I got them. I had put the fabrics in a plastic bag in these plastic totes too and am so glad I did. None of my fabrics were damaged but the totes were toast. I even noticed they had put my Viking Designer 1's packing box at the bottom of the pile in their moving van. Needless to say I had to make a comment to them about that. Machine was not damaged though as it still had the styrofoam inserts surrounding the machine. I keep all my machine boxes in the garage rafters just in case I have to send the machine somewhere for repair.

Imagine how much you could get in the box if you used those bags that you suck the air out of!

But with my luck, about half-way to its destination the bags would all spontaneously develop a hole and fill with air, causing the box to explode with the released fabric! Can't you just picture it!?

If I was going to pack a lot of totes or boxes. I would have them on a table- not on the floor!
