Alyce.......great link....I was thinking it would be good to have something to hold the sponges on your hands.
Credit goes to slightlyoffquilter for that idea but I remembered it as a handy tip. Both tips are great.

I have the free motion gripper that comes with the Quilters Kit II for my Husqvarna sewing machine. It's like a little steering wheel and is so much easier on your hands. I have also tried gloves and other methods. This one works for me.

I will always credit quilters with being problem solvers and having creative out of the box solutions to all kinds of situations. So glad this works for you. I will try it on a future project too.
peace

Sounds like a great idea. However I love my Machingers white quilting gloves, they are light weight and don't make my hands hot.

I've used the rubber finger things that you can get at a office supply store. There not as tight as the finger cots and have grippers on them. They come in different sizes, too. Rather inexpensive. I think they were used for separating papers or money.

It works....thanks so much. I do have gloves, finger cots and a ring that holds in place but this works. For those who don't like to pick them up to move a quilt around....maybe--well, I'll have to work on that idea later today or by next week. I have to work slower now (81) so I don't mind picking up the sponges.
