Why do I do this?
Let me say, I have at least 100 quilting magazines full of patterns; at least 50 quilting books full of patterns; notebooks full of patterns I have printed from the internet; lots of bookmarks on the internet, etc. but I seem to make the same patterns over and over. I just started my fourth warm wishes. I have tried other patterns but can't seem to try many new things. I guess I'm a creature of habit and just go to my go-to favorites.
Do you do the same thing or am I unusual?

I never make the same pattern twice. Well, I can't say never, on a couple of occasions when pressured, I made a duplicate when a relative or friend really, really, reeeeealy had to have it. I agree with joe's mom, if you love that pattern and are comfortable making it--have at it. Maybe, a little too comfortable? But what the heck, we all have our comfort foods too. No matter how many wonderful foods I try and really like, every now and then, I have to have my mom's meat loaf or fried chicken. I even drink hot chocolate in the summer time.

For me it depends on why I am making the quilt. If I need a quick baby quilt, or my husband wants a quilt for a friend for some reason, I will make a pattern I have done before. But if I find a pattern that grabs my attention and fabric to go with it - that is something different.

I also collect/hoard patterns and magazine ideas. But I do the same thing with recipes. And I rarely try different recipes. But I love to browse the patterns, magazines and recipes. I find it relaxing. So, for me, it's not all about the making!
