Lots of nice buys, but I'm in a selling mood. I put my blackside 128 with a bentwood case in the newspaper this week. Kind of like selling a family member. My fist vintage machine hopefully will be the first to go.

No actual yard sale finds today but I picked up a Greist buttonholer at a thrift store for $1.00. It's a nice shade of blue and says long shuttle on the box. It looks complete and the attachment is for a top clamp. You don't have to remove the clamp to install it. No idea what it might fit yet.

"long shuttle" is just that - what type of shuttle and not the Mfg, as National and New Home also made rotary machines. The color of the box is more indicative, and I've seen some say "long shuttle" or "rotary" when the buttonholer is the same unit. Sometimes it's because it's something like Kenmore, and in their case, the Rotary is made by one company and the long shuttle is made by a different company.. There is also the deal that older New Home and newer New Home are not the same - as later top clamp New Home were made by Free and match Free's specifications.

Our 1 and only top clamp machine is currently in storage where I can't get to it easily. It says Brunswick which is an old Montgomery Wards brand. It's also a VS machine so there's a good chance the buttonholer will fit it. At $1.00 I wasn't going to pass on it anyway. The box is fuzzy and was blue at one time. Now it's faded to a dingy blue/tan color.

Burnswick is going to be a National made machine.
the left is typically what you see to fit a White made machine (you remove the top clamp) middle is New Home/Free (gap is 1/4") and right is National (gap is 3/8") BTW- this unit came in a box marked "Brunswick"

I thought I would bring this thread back up to see what else people have found. Nothing for me this week so far but last week I bought an old Miller kerosene lamp that needs a chimney and a wick for $10 and a green Jetsons Singer buttonholer for $1 at one of the local thrift stores.
