If you have already bought one and it is light I would put plaster paris in the bottom to make it a little heaver and than
put a piece of felt over the plaster. good luck

Or glue or mount it to a piece of board that will keep it in place.

Just put the spool/cone of thread in a jar behind the machine. Really.

I use a mason jar to hold my thread. It works for just about anything, pint size for smaller ones. The cones work great in there as well.

There are a lot of make do holders that work okay but glass breaks.

Purple Moose Designs sells a metal stand (base and rod are metal) for $7.95. If you go to their website, click on shopping, thread, thread stands. Don't know what shipping amounts to, but I have one of these stands and I love it.
