Might try making dog collars and leashes to match. Or the cute neckerchiefs for dogs to go along with their quilts. I made "mice" out of a piece of gray sweatshirt material and a lady bought one and came back the next day and cleaned me out. She said her cat was up all night playing with the mouse she bought the day before. Stuffed them with poly stuffing and a little catnip.

This may be true, but I have always found that the favorite quilt for my pet is the one on which I am currently working. LOL

Couldn't agree more, those will sell like hot cakes where maybe the other bits n pieces won't lets face it us fur-baby owners love spoiling them and a new bed is a fab idea and I just LOVE yours. I also love the idea about matching items, I bought a Bandana for my friends fur baby and it was brilliantly made, just a square folded into a triangle, an opening left to turn inside out and then a seam to for the collar to go throught he loves it and poses with it on.

I have been making mini quilts for the animals at the animal shelter for a few years now. I was doing it for both new adopted dogs and cats, however, because of the different sizes of dogs, I decided not to do for the dogs anymore. I mean, making for small dogs is fine, but when you start doing for larger dogs like German Shepherds, Labradors, etc., it does get very costly. I now only make mini quilts for the adopted cats (goes in their gift bag) and also for the cat cages at the shelter. I am not sure how many I've made in the last 4 years, but I know it has been more than several hundred. Each cat cage gets a clean quilt every day to rest on, and then each one adopted gets a brand new one to take home. A few years tried selling at local flea market to raise money for shelter volunteers to use, but being down south, did not do as well. Last year I put several in grooming shops and some did sell. If you have a good location to sell, and a good cause, I think you will do well.
