There's not much more fun than being with your closest quilting buddies. Please post pictures of your spectacular finds!

Lucky girl, I'm sure you will all have a fun time. When I was recovering from surgery and couldn't work for a few weeks, my best friend (who loves to drive, by the way) would call me up and say we're going fabric shopping. We went to JoAnn's, Ben Franklin's, and 3 or 4 other quilt shops in the area, one had discounted some of their bolts of fabric to $2.99/yd. - $3.99/yd., so needless to say we had fun. It was the same fabric that had been on their shelves, but they were making room for new fabric. We had a blast, searching the shops, having lunch, then going home to "fondle" our fabric. I remember one fabric in particular I had purchased as a quilt backing, however, it had other ideas, wanted center stage and I made a gorgeous quilt which I donated to my church for their Harvest Fair Raffle and it was very successful. Does anyone else have fabric speak to you?

Here is what I bought:

These are two bolts of 108" backing fabric. We each bought two bolts of different colors and prints and will split the bolts.

This is three yards of 108" backing:

This is 3 yards each of Robert Kaufman fabric with metallic:

I bought a full bolt of this because I had to have all of it. I love it.

The backing bolts were $4.99 a yard. The yardage cut backing was $7.99 yard. See how much you can save by buying the bolt and splitting it?
The RK fabric was $3.98 a yard and the bolt of the pretty blue was $2.75 a yard. I also bought 5 yards of vintage winnie the pooh fabric on the $1 a yard clearance table. I have a lot of crib quilts to make this year.

Only 1,692 miles from me. Guess I will never be able to join you for a shopping trip to MDG.

Lovely backing material you and your friends have purchased.

721 miles for me, I visited last October, I was visiting my daughter in Memphis, I wish I knew about buying the bolts of backing so much cheaper when I was here, I would of bought a couple of bolts. I did buy some yardage.
