Thanks everyone; I was inspired by a pillow I saw on pintrest and figured I would do my best to imitate it; I made a batik quilt for someone a couple months ago and had lots of little bits/scrap squares left over - worked out perfectly.
the best thing about doing a mini quilt is that it's easier to try something new and not get overwhelmed with the process.

Check out the beautiful mini Teresa made for me - the background fabrics make up all the seasons and the buttons represent each season; strawberries/flip flops/pumpkins/winter spring. Thank you for the beautiful little mini and the extra butterfly batiks and the letter K note paper.
