If I am piecing a block with many pieces, I square up as I go. At the beginning of every sewing day, I check to make sure I am piecing accurately, it seems like some days go better than others.

small scraps of fabric that you start sewing on before your block pieces and sew off on at the end of the seam - at least that is what I know them as

As in having one piece longer than the other? You start sewing on the longer one and then sew straight onto the other piece? Or vice versa for enders?

Leaders & Enders. aka L&Es, are what Bonnie hunter has named the pieces of fabric one uses to end a project block and be the start of a new one to save thread and cut down on tails of thread. But instead of just scraps these pieces are deliberately cut into small squares, triangles, rectangles, to then become another quilt.....check her site quiltville for more info.......
