    Default Versatile Wave Interchangeable Purse

Finally finished this today! Took a long time to make and was kind of futzy. It's called the Versatile Wave interchangeable purse by Susan Rooney. You make the basic black purse and handles and then make a separate reversible shell that you slip the basic purse into. The shell has buttonholes on the sides and 4 little tiny loops to clasp your swivel purse handles to. You can then make different shells to go with the season, holiday, match an outfit, etc and you don't have to change your purse out all the time! First time doing piping and using my Bernina buttonhole foot. I put piping on the inside pockets too so I could at least see where they were! Hard to see black on black. Also added the purse bottom in same b/w dot fabric. I really like it and will probably make another shell with Christmas or winter colors. I would also probably make the straps a little skinnier too. The pattern has them at 1.25 inches but I think a 1 inch or even 3/4 inch would be sufficient since it's not a huge purse. Now need to empty out my old purse and stock this one. This purse finishes at 12" w x 8.5" h x 4"d and is a little smaller than my other purse so will have to purge some things which isn't all bad!

Glad it's done because it took a lot longer to make than I thought it would. I can see how a person could really embellish the shell with applique, piping, fringe, etc which would be fun. Now to find the right holiday fabric!

Sandra, it looks beautiful. You did a really great job. It looks very professional.

What hints do you have for anyone who might attempt to use that pattern?

Super purse! I can see how making the different shells could be an addiction.

Beautiful purse and especially the shell. What a wonderful way to keep from changing purses all the time (which I hate). You did an excellent job on it!

Love it!!! I lost my Texas coin purse when changing purses. Cleaned it out and tossed a lot of papers, etc. Coin purse too evidently. Maybe I should get that pattern.
