But DH works hard and since I'm unable to work he is entitled to a home cooked meal, but still I'd rather be sewing...who wouldn't be

Yes, done that too. I used to quit and go mow the yard or something else physically but not mentally challenging. Now I live in an apartment.

Well, I don't usually quilt late at night. I'm happily retired, so I can quilt all day. That said ... I've made that mistake anyway! The answer to the call for dinner is the slow cooker ... plop a chicken in it in the morning, or some meat covered with cream of something soup ... leftovers work well, too.
