My quilt is going to be a true scrappy. A good friend sent me a box for Christmas and my birthday with a LOT of scraps and fat qtrs. Almost all of them were dark colors which I am lacking in my stash. Anyway, between what she sent me and a few of my own I was able to cut 31 different 2 1/2 x 12 1/2 strips to use in my quilt. I also have a yellow for the stars. I can't wait to put it together and see what it will look like. Thank you Judy for another fun ride!!!

I would not allow myself to cut into anything larger than a fat quarter....or even a fat quarter for that matter. Supposed to be scrappy and I have to follow the rules.

Does anyone have this problem...I find a fat 1/4 and I don't want to cut it coz. just maybe???? but it's a scrap, but a good one, so I can't cut it. do you know what I mean by this? anyone else have this problem? what do you do?

Dotty in for a block for jolo.I could picture a family member throwing out my quilts, 'to show me not to collect junk' and because she's jealous.
Lynnie, I have this problem of cutting into fabrics the same as you do. It's sad. Why am I saving it? I've decided that I need to get going on some of my quilt ideas so that I do have scraps!!
These blocks are wonderful, and it was a great time! I need to concentrate on how to pull it together with the sashing and stars. Because so many of my childhood quilts were made from left-overs and grampa's shirts, I think that's why I go for 'matchy-matchy' now. Sigh. At least I'm not the only one with trouble cutting!

I have so many pieces of 2 1/2 by 15 or 20 inches....it seems like I have a piece leftover from every quilt I ever did the binding on.....and that includes a couple of dozen from other peoples quilts where they did not want the leftovers. Oh, and there are the side pieces and top pieces from the quilts my friend with a LA did not want those will make a great border once they are trimmed to size. They are from a king sized quilt. So staying scrappy here.

Lynnie early this morning I cut into some pretty fabric that I bought because I loved it but until yesterday I did not have a plan for it....this morning (4a.m.) it was perfect for a special 12 1/2 inch block.

Lynnie, I have started to cut into special fabrics too.
I decided I wanted to actually see it in quilts I have around the house, instead of my kids selling it or giving it away eventually, I know they will keep the quilts. 3 daughters 4 granddaughters!

Yes a scrappy one please PMJ!

DOTTY, what a quilt!!! I love it. still working on getting my big triangles put on.
I need to cut them out tomorrow and get them on then work on the borders and
stars.I think I need yellow for the stars too, I don't think I have enough of anything to make them, an that would
wrap it all up together. Great Job DOTTY!!!!
