Default Storm at Sea - Update

Hi Guys,

After my initial thread... Where I think paper piecing seemed to be the favoutite way to go, I did buy a sizzix die to make a triangle in a square and I made a block using this method.... I also made a block using the paper piecing method....... I think I am going the paper piecing way.... I don't like the join in the diamond... What do you think????

The first picture ure is using the sizzix die, the secon is the paper pieced and the last is the two together.

Hugs

Caroline

Looking pretty accurate. Have fun with the rest of the blocks (if more to be made).

I LOVE the fabric you're using....and would have to say that i like the PP method better...It just "flows" better it think. The pieced diamonds kind of halt your eye. Just my opinion.....either way you are going to have a gorgeous quilt.

I agree that the join in the diamonds just stops the natural flow of the block. These are just my practice blocks, I will be getting some batiks ranging from pale pink through to darker shades to make my quilt..... So looking forward to it. I have already purchased the foundation papers. Thank you for taking the time to look and to let me know your opinion (glad we agree too).

Hugs

Caroline

looks to me the PP makes the points perfect. Sounds like a winner to me! Have fun!

I agree......Your paper pieced will be more accurate and with all the points no doubt be easier in the long run. Be sure to post a picture when you are finished.

I like the pp'd one better. The extra seam does seem to stand out on the other one.

Storm at Sea is on my quilt bucket list and I will do it in PP'ing..... because it just feels so much sharper (I did a Hunter's Star with pp'ing too and it works so well to get the points to match so easily!)
