ladysuds, I made this quilt before I had a stash of my own. I bought the pre-cut squares and the grid interfacing at a quilt show from a vendor who had a similar quilt hanging in their booth. There was no pattern, just materials. The nice people let me take a picture of their sample quilt to use as inspiration. I haven't seen that vendor at the show since then, and I always look for them. I've also tried to find them online with no luck. I'm sorry I can't tell you more than that except that they were a husband and wife team from Oregon. That's all I can remember.

I really like those. Are they difficult to do?

Quilter 65, the construction is not difficult, but it is very easy to get lost in the design process. Kind of like doing a puzzle until you get the picture right. Finally, you just say "enough!", and go with what you have ;-)

I would say a design wall is a must.

DebraK, beautiful dainty wallhanging!

ladysuds, there is a book from That Patchwork Place called Watercolor Quilts by Pat Maixner Magaret & Donna Ingram Slusser that teaches this technique in detail, maybe you could find it and use a similar idea?

Google shows lots of pictures of it. https://www.google.ca/search?q=Water...w=1280&bih=867

That is one of the nicest Watercolors I have ever seen! I love the subject of a tree in bloom and you did such a great job picking out the fabrics for the outer bits of the tree.

I love it!! I tried to make a water color wreath quilt once but I needed a huge design wall and it was not working for me. What you did looks "doable"!! Great job.

First quick glance and I thought it was a photo. I'ts darling. Isn't great to revisit your earlier work? Makes you think you've made some progress. I've also gone back redone the binding on a lot of my earlier quilts.
