Default She looked at me like I was from another planet!

I stopped in our local sewing machine dealer to pick up a bobbin winder tire for my Minnesota treadle. The lady had a totally blank look when I asked for it. And it didn't dawn on me that newer machines don't use that "technology" LOL. I must spend too much time on this section of QB!

Anyway, one of the other ladies said "ask Russ (OSMG) he probably has one". So she heads to the back room where Russ hangs out and comes back with my tire. She was holding it with the tips of her fingers like it was something rotten That was when I explained it was for a vintage machine.

They only charged $2 for it so I came out ahead since I didn't have to pay shipping.

There must be a huge markup on new sewing machines, because they don't have as much fabric in their whole store as I have in my own stash at home! They had several quilt tops hanging, but it looks like they specialize in embroidery supplies.

Thanks Joe, for the suggestion to move the bobbin winder over so a tire would make contact with the wheel. Looks like it will work fine.

Thanks for the story. I guess she was just so worried about dropping it.

Our local sewing center doesn't have as much fabric as I do and I don't have much. Not crazy about their fabric but they mostly sell machines and parts and notions and repair.

Funny story. You are not alone, I also spend too much time on QB.

Yeah, I guess we all do, but what the heck, it's good for us. My son worked for a Sewing Machine dealer (Janome) here in town for many years. The owner at that time had collected over a 40-50 year operation of the business, used parts for numerous machines, so if anybody need parts, they new they could find them at this store. Well, about 10 years ago, the long-time owner of the store sold the store, and my son continued to work there. Then, a few years after he left the store, the building and contents burned to the ground -- some type of electrical problem with the air conditioning system. So, the local supply of parts for older machines is gone, which is a shame! It does make it harder to find parts!
