I agree. Try one of the darker prints you have and save the stripes for the binding.

thank you all for your comments and suggestions. Because red is her favorite color, and the quilt is so busy, I have decided to go with the red border and binding. Everything else I tried just added more busyness to it. I appreciate your help as always!!

I think you have made a good decision. It is already a beautiful quilt, and it will look really really good with a red border and binding. I look forward to seeing a picture....

Because the quilt is busy, I would look at some complimenting solids.

Thoughts about this? Thanks in advance!!
I'd go with a thin white border and use one of the two fabrics for your binding. White would keep the body of the quilt as the focus and would not limit the quilt to any one color accent.

Yes, I think a solid would draw out the other colors in the quilt. Good luck on what you decide.

I like the plaid! It picks up all the colors in your quilt and, though busy itself, will look great as a border, I think.

Oops! Never mind. I read "border" and substituted "binding" in my head. I, too, think the plaid is too busy as a border and would use a solid instead, probably red (which seems to be my go-to choice for a border if I have red in the quilt). But I'd still use that plaid for the binding!

I like the boldness of your quilt. I would suggest a solid or tone on tone border. Your eyes need a place to stop I would choose a color for the border that is fairly dominant in the quilt.

I would do a red border with a striped binding.
