This is BEAUTIFUL! I'm not a big fan of sampler quilts, but I LOVE this! I think it's the fabric with black spec and the quilting! GORGEOUS!

I actually have a bunch of sampler blocks from a friendship swap that I haven't put together yet. I think they would look SO MUCH BETTER if I offset them like you did. What a great idea! Why have I not thought of yellow and black!!?? I love love the combination!! And your quilt really brings this out. You did a great job. I love how the sampler blocks are all connected with the other block....really like how you arranged these. Makes this quilt so striking...great job!!

What a wonderful quilt I LOVE the way you used the alternate block to put it together but the use of the narrow strip of stripe ties everything together so nicely. There is a great WOW factor there and you should enter it in some shows.

BrendaK and anyone else who was wondering, this is from Fons & Porter magazine Jan/Feb, Mar/Apr, May/June 2011. It was put out in 3 parts and is called Civil War Sampler. I just downloaded all 3 issues, but the Setting Block is in Part 3, which is what I was most interested in.
