I have an 8900 and mine sew through leather jacket just fine and they are thick. I have sewed patches on them for the neighbor. Sounds like he is just giving you the run around.

A persistent timing issue sounds to me like the hook isn't tightened correctly when timed. Not having everything tightened up well means the hook can slip again causing problems. Have you had some serious thread wads in the bobbin area? That is about all that should be able to mess up timing. It actually is remarkably easy to adjust timing on a machine; I have done it on my multineedle embroidery machine when installing a new bobbin case.

Hope you get satisfaction from your dealer and/or Janome.

Pam

I have not had thread wads. I wish I knew how to fix it. Would save me some money.

I will try another dealer this weekend.

There is a Yahoo site for those of us who own Janome 7700/8900. You might also join this site for some trouble-shooting thoughts.

I think the dealer sounds pretty shabby. I have fixed timing on a machine and it took all of 1 minute. Your dealer sounds like a greedy so-and-so. Maybe you could ask to watch him fix it...???.....

I have the glasshead pins and very careful not to run over them, I will check the needle bar.

Thanks for for all your help.

I'm so very excited to report I took my machine to a new dealer, I did a quick something. Told me if there is a next time leave it alone and bring it to him so he can see what's going on , and he didn't charge me !! I did buy the janome needles and a blue dot bobbin case from him😊 now that's awesome customer service.

I would not be happy. Especially since Janome hasn't helped at all. If you take back 3 times for the same thing it is classified a lemon and I think you can get help easier that way.

I would let your lousy dealer know you found a good dealer. That's the way I am. I don't let anyone get away with being lousy on my dime.

There is also a yahoo group for 8900 and 7700 owners. They are very active and have a lot of help there. Check them out.
