    I love your lazy kate. I don't spin but I do dabble in crochet and knitting and I had my brother make one of these yarn winders for me after I found one on sale on ebay. It's made with PVC pipe and the center rod is metal. You insert the center rod into the skein of yarn and it spins around as you wind the ball. I also wind bindings onto the center rod and it works great for keeping the binding neat while I sew.

    Cool tool !
    I wrap my binding around and old toilet paper cardboard, run a shoelace through the tube and tie it around my neck like a medallion. the binding comes off the roll as I sew... nice and smooth.
