I was all excited to have a play day today but plans got changed. I did work some in the late afternoon starting the cleaning process on a very dirty and rusty Singer 28.

I also lucked into a machine I have been lusting after right on my street. They had signs already up for their yard sale tomorrow and they let me peek early. I found a Necchi Supernova! *I've been watching for one--hopefully pink. This one is the grey/green but came with the goodie box full of cams and feet so I just could pass it up!

The Necchi didn't get "worked on" yet, but I did remove it from the cabinet and load it in the truck so I guess that counts.

The machine I fiddled with today. The marina dropped off a boat cover needing a buckle repaired and a flap seam resewn. The 1950 HC 128 was set up with V-69 thread so I used it. The iPad rotates pictures to its liking. I hope they are right side up.

How does the HC connect to the (solid) fly wheel?

It looks like the handwheel was notched. I have done that to a few. not too hard if you have a bench grinding wheel.

I’ve heard somewhere that the long bobbin Singer machines (28, 27, 128, 127) do fairly well with large thread. Was that you talking about it?

I have used #69 and #92 nylon in both my 128 and my 27. Done canvas and cordura work with them ( as well as light leather piping and edge binding ) they seem to handle it no questions asked.

I’ve got an off-topic question. A friend of mine showed me a photo on her cell phone today, of a machine that looked all the world like a Singer 31-15. It was in an old H-leg industrial stand, surface-mount bobbin winder, clutch motor underneath, was black and had a “wasp body” shape. She said it was a Bernina machine, but I couldn’t tell it by the photos.

Has anyone ever heard of an Industrial Bernina straight-stitch machine resembling a Singer 31-15?

Good to know they can handle heavier work. Nice seeing where the notch needs to go on the flywheel too. I haven't put a crank up against a solid wheel yet to find out. It looks like the same wheel as a 99 uses.

The iPad likes its "Home Button" or whatever it's called on the right or at the bottom for "Right Side Up" photos to the rest of the world. Most people don't pay attention to its orientation and most forums don't care enough to check the "meta data" embedded in the photos so that's why half the Internet is upside down these days.
