That is so frustrating. You will probably never figure out exactly what was wrong but I've had this happen too. Go back and do everything again. Maybe use a totally different bobbin even. Reload the bobbin into it's place. Remove your needle and thread and redo that whole thing again. Sometimes that helps. I hate when I can't figure out exactly what went wrong.

Get out your manual and make sure your bobbin is inserted into the bobbin case with the thread coming out in the right direction. Also check that you have the right bobbin in if you have more then one machine. Check that your needle is in correctly.

I feel your pain! Been there done that. If you removed the bobbin case to remove the lint go back and make absolutely sure that you put it back in 100% correctly. That was a problem for me more than once, it wasn't quite right. Then rethread both the bobbin and your upper thread to make sure that you have gone through the tension disks . I had to do that process a few times before I got it all correct. Take your time and good luck.

I had the same problem with a new sewing machine and ended up taking it to the shop as a last resort, I was told the timing was off and the newer machines with any electronics are VERY fragile and a bump, drop or setting down to hard can knock it out of time. As it turned out it worked at the shop but by the time I drove home it was not working again
I took it back and when it was fixed I gave it to my son who never had a problem with it. Good Luck.

I never heard that before. If the machines are that fragile then none would ever be sold.

Every time my machine does that it was because I forgot and threaded the needle right to left. It has never happened on the machines that thread front to back.

I have a Brother and it is very difficult for me to get the bobbin case back in place after cleaning out lint. Of course, mine makes super birds nests if it isn't in place properly which is not what yours is doing. The other thing could be a small piece of thread somewhere in either the top or in the bobbin area. I have had that interfere with thread pickup.

Probably got the needle in wrong. Manual will tell you which way the flat side faces. Then the thread goes in the needle differently.

Start from scratch. New bobbin. Re-thread.
    Thats so frustrating.

I'm with Barny, check again to make sure the needle is in properly. What machine is this? Featherweight and 301A machines will be purring along until after a lint cleaning, then go haywire. Then you remember that little finger on the bobbin case has to be lined up inside the channel on the bottom of the needle plate.
