    Default Another Scottish themed quilt

A few weeks back I posted on the forum asking for ideas for a small quilt to be a gift for a Texas mum. The daughter and her husband concluded that it was best if I just did whatever I wanted. A clear canvas is on one hand a lovely thing to have but on the other hand means an awful lot of head scratching. Some ladies on her were encouraging with ideas however when I stopped to think about it, it really didn't make sense for me to make a quilt from an American perspective on what would be appropriate for this lady because let's be honest, her daughter could've got any one on here to make her the most amazing quilt with to die for quilting. So I decided to focus on Edinburgh, as the lady had fallen in love with it on her only visit to Scotland.

Anyway this is what I came up with - a saunter along The Royal Mile, possible Scotland's most famous street, from one end to the other, a wee bit of history because not many folk across the pond have much knowledge of our past (besides I don't often get an opportunity to use my first degree in Scottish history- glad it wasn't wasted lol) and a wee bit of story telling about Scotland's best known pooch. The quilt is a bit unorthodox and quirky but the daughter loved it. I actually can't stop grinning at the thought of me having made a quilt for someone in Texas!

I kept the quilting very simple not to interfere with the embroidery. The coat of arms is Edinburgh city.
