It's not an original concept by any means, I've seen it in variations. In the first linked posting I put a pic of the block layout. It's a 1:2:3:4 ratio of blocks that's cut into triangles and set light/dark. There are 16 blocks with 16 sub-blocks (hst or hrt) each. The HRT's with the long steep angles were the doozies so those were the paper piecing. I thought about paper piecing the whole blocks but they're 15" square so I would have had to do it on 11x17" paper and then it just got ridiculous to me so I went the piecing route. I lost some points (hence the working title) but I love the overall effect.
