Well for some reason I stopped getting noticed of posts. Bluebonnets, I love your broken dishes! I'm very excited you're all receiving and happy with your candy. I'll post a new swap by the end of the week. I'm thinking.....July/August/September. Thinking of a new swap theme.......

I really like the candies I received this time. Thanks Sheri for all the work you do organizing these. I have enjoyed doing them and look forward to the next one.

Hello all! Guess what I sewed on today? That's right....our little 2.5" squares. I have 60+ split nine patch blocks that I've not worked on in a while,(1year, actually) so I got them out and started up again. I hope to get more done tomorrow. I need 120 blocks for the quilt I'm making. I'm only a little over half way there, so I figured I can jut make them to my heart's content before I even have to stop and count again. LOL There is just something about sewing these little squares that I really enjoy. I had the day off work today for Independence Day so I'm enjoying a long 3-day weekend. I hope you all have a safe weekend!

I thought I knew a lot about quilting, but.......what exactly is a split 9 patch?

The three on the center diagonal are HSTs... usually a light and a dark. Then the rest of the squares on either side are either light or dark... so the whole 9 patch looks like one big HST, value-wise. A picture would make more sense, I know.

Sorry, I don't know how to post a picture of my blocks. Thank you, sewbizgirl for the link. I got the idea from Bonnie Hunter's website, Quiltville's Quips and Snips. She has the Split Nine Patch listed under her free patterns section. You can lay out the blocks to make many different zig zaggy patterns, similar to log cabins.
