love your case! I did a 301 trapazoid case that was horrible outside as well as inside.
I put on 5-6 coats of matte Mod Podge after the magazine papers were on. The trick is to
let it dry, dry, dry between coats. The finish is smooth and feels like silk. Inside was smelly
and nothing solved it....so I tore out all the vinyl, and brackets....wiped it down with bleach/
water. let it dry and glued in cobolt blue vinyl. I get comments on how unusual and cool
it is, wherever I take it. I think I posted pictures here a few months ago. The case was
a mess, or I never would have done it. Mish k in NJ

So your Mod Podge isn't sticky later?!?

Sounds like I didn't do it right. I probably DIDN'T let it dry completely between layers. (My project wasn't a sewing machine case; I was re-covering shoeboxes that I use for storage. They stayed sticky forever so I eventually tossed them.)

I don't think I saw pictures of your case before. If you have them handy and wouldn't mind reposting, I'd love to see it!

no, not a sticky spot at all!!
I've done a lot of decoupage and the secret is to really letting it dry between coats.
Holds true for paper and fabrics. I tried to post pictures here before, but haven't been able
to. I thinks it's because I use a Kindle. A blog post was written by Bonnie K. Hunter about my case.
here's the web page

I have a horrible smelly Featherweight case to do next.

Mish, Your case came out really nice!

I finally finished mine. I need to let the shellac cure before putting a machine in it but I think it will look nice with a black Singer.

Christy
oh yha....black & white prints are perfect for black machine.
you motivated me to get going on the featherweight case....
I've collected so many quilt magazine pages, I could easily
cover another 2-3 cases.....it's really fun tho and I enjoy the
creativity of how to glue them on.
A friend said I should try to decoupage my super ugly 301 machine.
It is chipped, scratched and peeling...all over....but sews beautifully.
I'll think on that a bit tho!!

That's very cool Mish! And how cool that Bonnie Hunter featured it!

I might have to trot out the ModPodge and give it another try. I always save shoeboxes for storage but hate how they look on my bookshelves.

Christy - your case looks great!! It looks like a crazy quilt.
