I've made this runner and it is made like the traditional log cabin block. If you hold down the control key and roll the wheel on your mouse forward you can see the different fabrics and where the seams are located. Don't forget to reverse the roll when you have finished looking so that you get back to your normal sized screen. I would recommend using spray starch to keep those long pieces from becoming wavy. And, I bet with some internet searching you could even find something similar to use for the applique.

Looks like 17 horizontal rows and 16 vertical ones. In googling this on the internet, seems all hits lead back to Quiltingboard.com . QuiltnNan offered one in EQ5 on 6/30/2014, but her's has 9 horizontal logs, so the original must have narrower logs. Ruthrings showed her beautiful placemats with holly applique on 12/21/2012, no pattern mentioned.

Nana2Sew, thank you for the information. I saw that image on Pinterest, but when I clicked on it, the heading said Rugs, then opened pins of curtains, drapes, etc. I don't think my Quilter's World goes back that far.

It looks like an elongated Log Cabin.
If you start with the red in the middle (maybe cut 1¾" to finish at 1¼" ??) and go counter-clockwise, it appears "to my aging eyes", that you add a short cream strip to the left end; then add another long cream strip to fit to the end of the red strip; then add a tan strip at the right to fit the cream and red together; then add the sage green (?) strip and then keep going around and around, counter-clockwise. Except for the first red strip the others appear to be cut at 1½" to finish at 1".
Court House Steps are evenly 'stacked' at each end. Did I explain that correctly?
Please feel free to comment, but when I drag the photo to my desktop and enlarge it, I believe I can see that first short cream piece separate from the next long cream strip on the long side of the red.
