    Just a suggestion for your "lead lines". You can buy 1/4" single fold bias tape, with a narrow strip of adhesive on the back that is ironed in place, than stitched, in most fabric stores. It comes on 12-15 ' rolls. Or, you can do as I did and make your own, elmers school glue it down with a narrow bead of glue, then stitch it down both sides. Both are much easier than reverse appliqué IMHO.
