The bride's mom inquired if anyone could use the runner that was put down for the bride and father in the procession. Hating to see it thrown away, I brought it home wondering if it can be used for foundation for strip quilts. Has anyone utilized this in any way?

Can it be torn off like paper?

If not, would it be washable?

It's like the non-woven poly stuff that they use for grocery bags. How stiff is it? I got a roll that I use for pattern pieces they don't tear and don't slip around. I would cut a piece & wash it to see if is shrinks (don't think it would, but you never know) and see if it softens up a bit. Other than that I don't see a reason why you couldn't.

I think I read a link somewhere that it was great to use for making string blocks. JAF and Hobby Lobby carry them. Please let us know how it works.

Not stiff at all. It's more like interfacing. Haven't tried washing it but I'd intend to leave it in the block instead of taking it out as for paper piecing.

Good thought on using it for patterns because of the length!

So many ideas are running through my head to use that in quilting! And I don't think they are very expensive to purchase either.

If it's a poly that doesn't disintegrate, I wonder if it could be used as a ground cloth, put down under your mulch, to discourage weeds. Sorry, not quilting related, but that sounds like a lot of cloth.

I have used them for disposable table clothes, wrapping paper, etc.

I just saw one at the local thrift store. Maybe I should go back and get it. It was new.
