    I keep mine in a drawer so I wouldn't add a loop.

I like loops on mine. That way if I want to hang them I can.

I would make a loop on a potholder just because then it looks like a potholder to me Do I hang my potholders? No. But still I'd do the loop, especially for a gift.

I would make the loop as like Tartan said, it is easier to join the binding.

I don't put loops on my potholders so they can be used as a hot mat on the table. No one I know hanges a potholder.

I put loops on both quilted and crocheted ones unless they're the really big ones like for use under hot dishes on a table.

I use loops. I hang the potholders on the door handles above the stove and microwave. The ones I make are too heavy for a magnet. The only ones that sit flat are buy the multicooker and bread machine.

I think hoops are necessary for displaying your work. You invested time on the potholders why not display them!

I have a small limited drawer and counter space in my kitchen. All my pot holders hang over my stove for easy and quick access. The few pot holders I have without loops rarely get used. It only takes a few seconds to add a loop.
