2015/16 birthday swap...candy style 2.5"
#1861
sewbizgirl I received your wall hanging today that you made to honor Linda's (elizabrat) memory. It is so cute and will make a happy wall hanging for the hospice center. Thank you for sending it. This is the candy squares that I was sewing on yesterday for my quilt. Have 1 more row of black around the outside and then it will be on the quilting table. Kind of like a little "I Spy"..
I love that candy pattern too... and yes, it's just like a little I Spy. I see so many things in there to "find".

Don't know if you knew elizabrat from the swaps on the board... she ran the mug rug swaps for a long time until she just got too sick to continue. She had bad health problems had been getting dialysis for a long time, and we were all hoping she would get a donor kidney before it was too late. But no... didn't happen that way. She got so sick they just stopped the dialysis and she went into hospice and passed away rather quickly once she was there. A few people from the mug rug swap said they wanted to do "something" in her memory, so it was decided to make some mini quilt wall hangings to adorn the walls at the hospice. This kitty one is my contribution to the effort, in Linda's (elizabrat's) memory. She was a very upbeat person and I believe she would have wanted her friends to go on enjoying their quilting and life!
Jaba is a local friend of Linda's, and she offered to take the donated quilts to the hospice for us.

Linda was one of the members of the QB and in several swaps on the board. She was the hostess of the mugrug swap and participated in the mini wall hanging, quilt along and several boomerangs. She was a dialysis patient and was waiting for a kidney. She didn't receive one in time and died on December 21st. Some of the ladies wanted to make wall hangings in her memory and I am taking them to the hospice house that she spent her last week staying at.
