What a wonderful present to be treasured for years. I haven't made one yet, but am saving strips and thinking about it. The idea of making a scrappy scares me.

Beautiful quilt. My quilts always have their own time line from start to finish, from 1 month to 5 years. Seriously, I made a quilt for my DH, he picked out the pattern and fabrics, never again. The quilt turned out to be beautiful, but the pattern had so many bias edges it drove me crazy. I tried doing a pieced border, which didn't work out, put it away for nearly 5 years, then decided to just put a plain black border on it which had been my choice after the pieced border fiasco. It was for our 25th wedding anniversary, but was ready for our 30th, although he loved it.
